Ben’s Story
Every project brings new challenges, and that’s where you really develop your skills, build confidence, and gain the experience needed to deliver consistently at a high level.
I’ve worked on major projects across the UK and Europe, gaining the experience to deliver in high-pressure environments.
– Ben Scadding, CTSI joined CTS at the age of 20 through the recommendation of a family member who worked for the company. I’ve now been with CTS for over eight years, and from the beginning I was made to feel part of the team.
Learning the role and gaining experience
From day one, I was supported with the tools, equipment, and guidance needed to develop in the role. Working alongside experienced engineers helped me quickly build my knowledge across different areas of the business, while gaining hands-on experience on a variety of sites.
Developing my specialism
As I progressed, I began to specialise in testing and balancing, while also developing a solid understanding of other aspects of the company. Alongside this, I completed my BCM qualifications, as well as training with CIBSE and BSRIA, which strengthened both my technical knowledge and on-site capability.
Working on major projects
Over time, I’ve played a key role on some of the company’s largest projects, including RAF Lakenheath, the FKQB1 data centre in Frankfurt, and the ZUR3 data centre in Zurich. These projects have given me valuable experience working in high-pressure environments where attention to detail and meeting deadlines are critical.
Understanding reliability and pressure on site
On large and fast-paced projects, being dependable and understanding what needs to be done — and when — is essential. I’m known for my reliability, people skills, and ability to work under pressure, ensuring the best results are achieved in demanding situations.
The company continues to grow
Since I joined CTS, I’ve seen the company take on increasingly large and complex projects, particularly across Europe. Being part of that growth has created opportunities to work on high-profile sites and continue developing my experience.
CTS is more than an employer
There’s a strong team culture, and people genuinely support each other both on and off site. It’s an environment where hard work is recognised, and where you’re given the opportunity to progress. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and travelling.
What’s next for me?
I’m aiming to take on a more central role across multiple major projects throughout Europe, supporting different teams and helping ensure each project runs efficiently. I want to continue building my experience and contributing at a higher level across the business.
